iBiSS Posted January 9, 2023 Share Posted January 9, 2023 Hi, why there is no source code for the uniTools? So I am not able to use new Delphi Versions, which are not supported officially. Are there any other "Delphi" Sources that are missing? I thought just the client source is missing. I am using the latest UniGui complete edition. iBiSS Posted January 11, 2023 Author Share Posted January 11, 2023 I have added my new email address to the settings. If I want to use UniGUI with Delphi 12.0 I can not compile the application, because the dcu Format of the uniTools is not the same like Delphi 11. Without the sources of the uniTools I have no chance to use UniGUI with other versions than YOU provide. Maybe other sources are also missing. I thought with buying the Complete Edition, I get everything without the source on the client. If this is wrong I do not know if UniGUI is the right component for me, because the software is very dependent on the survival of ONE 3rd party component vendor. iBiSS Posted January 11, 2023 Author Share Posted January 11, 2023 It's not meant in a bad way, but if you base a project on UniGUI and UniGUI is no longer developed at some point (for whatever reason), that's just a problem. We've had this before with components (e.g. PaxCompiler or SecureBlackBox) and if we hadn't had those in source code that would be damn bad. You can't simply switch a project from UniGUI to another component. For this reason it would be good if you could buy everything that uses the Delphi IDE in the source code, possibly also as a higher license than the current Complete Edition. And that there is no info that UniGUI consists of Components and Core AND uniTools. "These are Core, Components, VCL and Design." No word of uniTools. But as I wrote before, maybe you need more than the uniTools to use the components in Delphi versions where no DCUs exist for. The only way to be safe in future is, that I can buy everything that is needed as .pas files. If you do not want to publish this, it is your decision.
