Hello Mathiew, • With Unigui, you don't have to know Java script nor Html. Everything happens naturally, except for a few rare cases, where you will always find solutions on this forum. • With Unigui, you think in Delphi, you develop in Delphi. • With Unigui, you don't need external tools for DB connection. All is integrated as you do it naturally with Delphi. • With Unigui you can deploy your complet web application in one month. No need client side experts web designers, no extra cost. • Unigui is not a gadget that we see coming out these days. it is a robust, reliable, accomplished product, mature (from 2011), which uses the most modern technologies. Here are the key assets of unigui which make me very happy and satisfied for this great product, from 2014 ! 2 Quote
Fred Montier Posted January 9 Posted January 9 As a consultant and TI adviser in Delphi, WebDev, C++ and other tricks , is the only way. If you´re a pascal/delphi user with some projects to desktop/windows, nothing will have more productivity than uniGUI. I completely disagree using Lazarus and making anything for Linux. This train left the station in the early 2000's. Don't even waste your time. Since CE release, what is the freaking point ? Except for very specific task and small projects, you NEVER use lazarus/freepascal in real works. A visit a lot of companies with old projects and I still waiting to see any one done with Lazarus (a big one). And for brazucas folks here, don't come with the ACBR stuff. I worked for years with Intraweb and in the 90's with CGI-Expert. Then Kylix*, Delphi .NET*, Delphi For PHP*, PHP, Oxygen etc etc... so, I'm not calling the argument from authority but my number of failures and bad projects I made, and the few big success, authorized me on the matter. I disagree with Abaksoft with first point only: You don't need (but you must) to know JS and html/CSS, specifically Ext.JS. And more about how it all integrates in uniGUI. You will have problems adapting VCL align, layout and porting to web CSS and html structure. That is a major issue.Hence, "alternatives" for those who want a fast solution and just do the basic. A see a lot o people demanding direct printing, take an APP for a Website, mobile for made for mobile, etc. Majority of questions goes in this direction. A lackof knowledge of how thing works in Browser/Web/Internet environment. This is really serious. So, you need: A- Know how to manage a cloud server, a container/instance in AWS or Azure or... B- Set up a CloudServer and how DNS/Domain works, configure domains names etc C- How to manager a HTTPd server (IIS, Apache, NGIX and others) D- How to user protocols (HTTP, FTP, SMTP...) E- Security, certiificates D- How to deploy a Website and an APP to it. E- How to-do all the above using uniGUI solutions. Believe me... If you know that, go for it. * dead ends and failures. Quote
Fred Montier Posted January 9 Posted January 9 With Kylix, I spent a whole year making/converting an existing project of mine. Sold nothing ! ZIP ! The same app for windows was a huge success. The linux folks/users were not used to pay for any app, but always having an income doing consulting and sell their work as a solution to others. Nothing wrong with that. Just don't have the demand. Toke me some time to realize that. Quote

We have been selling programs almost exclusively for Linux for several years, quite successfully. Quote
Fred Montier Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Talking about end-user and broad market demand. Of course there is a market to Linux but is very small one. With the right contacts and service demand, of course there is one. Not for Delphi... to late for that game. Is now to late to desktop either ! Just take a look in the shareware community related to Delphi comps... is finished. Not a single one from a small dev to linux. All big names have port to other platforms, TMS, DEVExpress etc... so, its is a sign of things to come. There are some guy working in Cobol and making tons of money. With the right contacts I could make some macros in Lotus 1-2-3, as I started working for a big chemical company in 80's. Being the last of my kind... surely ! Any DB3+ Ashton Tate fold around ? CA-Clipper ? Of course there is ... Quote

I reviewed the RadCore demo and liked it a lot. However, the UI response seemed a bit slow to me. Is this due to uniGUI and RadCore or is it a temporary situation caused by other factors? Quote

First of all, thanks for the comment. Radcore was created thinking about users who don't want to use HTML templates and save time when developing or migrating their applications. A pure web application will always be faster than an application made with UniGui. Another factor could be the latency of the VPS where the Radcore demo is located. In general, the idea of responsiveness is to offer the end user the possibility of opening their application on any device and the developer the possibility of creating applications with a single code and a single form with maximum productivity.
