Administrators Farshad Mohajeri Posted August 2, 2012 Administrators Posted August 2, 2012 Note: Due several reasons the datelines in below roadmap are no longer valid. Here you'll find the new uniGUI roadmap which will clarify our path towards version 1.0.0 and beyond. Roadmap is divided into two time divisions. 3rd and 4th quarters of 2012. We will try to finish "the job" in this period of time which is until end of this year. We will also try to keep the track with the proposed timetable below, but it may shift a bit into first quarter of 2013, as it is difficult to estimate the workload needed for each version in advance. 3rd quarter of 2012 Version 0.90.0 Ext JS 4 Support Estimated target price, licensing and support model announcement Minor bug and issue fix Version 0.91.0 Final changes to Framework infrastructure, architecture and component system core Additional Ext JS 4 support Documentation for 3rd Party component development Version 0.92.0 Major release for bug and Issue fix. Additional documentation for 3rd Party component development. Some new components. At this point we may start selling beta licenses and/or annual support plans. 4th quarter of 2012 Version 0.93.0 Help and Documentation SSL Support for standalone & Windows Service Possible name change for the framework Version 0.94.0 Finalization of framework features and component set for version 1.0.0 Additional bug fix Improved documentation Version 0.95.0 Additiona bug fix and documentation Quality assurance Preliminary support for Sencha Touch Additional notes: After version 0.95.0 we will quit standard version numbering and jump to RC (Release Candidate) versions. So next version after 0.95.0 will be 1.0.0RC1. Version 1.0.0 can be expected somewhere in last quarter of this year or first month of next year. Above roadmap is a rough estimation and there is no guarantee that certain features will be included in a certain version. Version 1.0.0 may include Sencha Touch support. If not, next target for Sencha Touch will be version 1.1.0. Based on user feedback this roadmap may be revised any time after it is published. Thanks for your interest and support for uniGUI. Please continue supporting by reporting bugs and sharing your opinions as always. Please remind me if I've missed anything above. Kind Regards, Farshad Mohajeri 2
Anachronox Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Looks very clear to me, many thanks to the team for future development.
estrify Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Looks very clear to me, many thanks to the team for future development. For me too, but need a couple of questions: We suppose that components will complete their functionalities along different versions to reflect some useful ExtJS behaviors but, could you comment what new components will be included a priori on each version? And, will licenses include source code? Thank you for this excellent job.
markw Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Farshad, Looks great! When you look at pricng - can you include an option for multi year support. (say licence + 3 or 5 years support) Cheers Mark
eric Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Hi farshad, good news to get a global vision. So does it means that we can expect a Version 0.90.0 in a couple of days ? eric

Harry Rogers Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Many thanks for that Farshad. I'm sure we all wish to thank you for your efforts so far in delivering what is already a ground breaking product. Could I just take the opportunity to remind everyone that it is Farshad's project and he has the absolute right to develop it in anyway he sees fit and to any time scale that suits him. Whilst we are all impatient for more and more improvements it should be remembered none of us have so far paid a penny. When he decides to start charging then the situation does change somewhat, but until then we just have to be patient. [No offence intended to anyone - just a little reminder] Thank you
mierlp Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Hi Thanks for the roadmap...looks good. As many developers i also would like to create web apps from my previeus Win32 apps. Within the Win32 apps there are used lot's of third party components and i know you can't used everything. Still there are some basic needs within web apps like reporting, mailing, import/export. Are there any plans to integrate export, mail (other then Indy), import/export functionality. FastReport can be used (see good example Ronak) but you can't use the Designer so a user can creates his own reports. Import/Export...export cut be done with FastReport but you have to make pre-defined report for a user instead of creating his own report. Maybe other users have some ideas or already made solutions...would be great to share them or describe how to do it. Regards Peter

Its his prerogative to take his time. Im only a little surprised he hasnt charged yet.. as the product so far is pretty dang stable, from what I can tell. Thanks for all the hard work. Im hoping we all make money with this great tool! Gordon

Works perfect! I use the visual designer, and send pdf mem stream directly to the browser. Far as Im concerned, the reporting side is the least in priority, as fast reports works like a champ. as for TCP/IP protocol stuff, there are so many tools out there that work fine.. Yes, allowing the user to design their own reports over the web would be nice, but that would be major undertaking..
zilav Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Are there any plans to integrate export, mail (other then Indy), import/export functionality. Import/Export...export cut be done with FastReport but you have to make pre-defined report for a user instead of creating his own report. What you propose (FastReport designer in web) is plain impossible without involvement of it's creators. Farshad can't do anything about it. Period. If you want to design reports in web, then use reporting system that supports such feature, for example Microsoft Report Services.
mierlp Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Hi Zilav/Gordon I know that you can't use the designer and i'm not saying that Farshad can do everything i'm only looking for solution to create web apps with about 90% of the functionality off the Win32 apps. If there are other components/solutions which are working that's only great and then there's nothing wrong sharing allyours/all members used /components/solution/experiance. We all can learn from it. Regards Peter

Regards Peter Ive been looking, and even with what farshad has now, it does more than any other designer out there faster. Do you know of anything that will allow us to design an app faster with more features? My guess is not, cuz a win32 app is nothing like Jscript, not even sort of close. I mean no offense... but I Guess what you are asking is putting the cart way in front of the horse. Im tickled with what hes done, and with a few more improvements, we are ready to rock.
rsanford Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 IMHO, I feel that many people will move to uniGUI as it matures, especially when 1.0 is released. The more users the more 3rd party support which in turn will get you reporting solutions and other compatible tools. I agree with Gordon and Zilav. Farshad should focus on the items outlined in the roadmap now that we're very close to a release candidate. Thanks Farshad for providing an updated roadmap. Great job!
Administrators Farshad Mohajeri Posted August 4, 2012 Author Administrators Posted August 4, 2012 So does it means that we can expect a Version 0.90.0 in a couple of days ? Conversion to Ext JS 4 is a major work and still in progress.
mierlp Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Hi Don't misunderstand me...i realy love the job Farshad is doing and i'm surely NOT criticise about UniGui. I agree UniGui is a easy and fast way to create web apps. My first web app will be ready i couple of weeks and the only thing i'm asking/looking for is the possibility/solutions to expand my apps with functionality they already have in Win32 apps. If i have look for other solutions or way to do it or even if it can't be done...that's oke. I also learnig every day of the more experiance developers here on the board Regards Peter
claudio.piffer Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Hi Farshad GREAT NEWS!!!! Thank you very much for UniGUI!! Best Regards Claudio
souza.fo Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Farshad, You will keep support to unigui VCL (Desktop) mode? Regards, Fabio Souza
