We invest a lot of time in trying to develop with unigui (and are up to now very content with the tool) and we need some security that unigui will not suddenly vanish from the scene. Our first greater projects have to be delivered by the end of the year and we are in sorrow if we can keep the deadline for our clients. Sincerely Helmut
dionel1969 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 (Just a comment) May be Farshad decided to do all the work to come to 1.0 version. If that is so I think it will be a very big work. In that case I think is not good, it is more easy use: "divide and conquer" metaphor. The Farshad's work is very good IMO, and for me is a very good because give me the possibility to use my skills in Delphi to develop for the web whith the paradigm client/server or client/app server/db server (2 tiers, 3 tiers or multi tiers). I think with those components and with fixing of the critical errors or bugs could be version 1.0 and could be "salable" (for sale). In my "small software company" people agree with me to buy the framework when it will possible "as is". Later could be new versions with enhancement of components and/or new components. For me the big problem is "the refreshing of grids", there are some other problems with focus and so on. Later could appear the possibility of filtering grids, some new components, the change from ExtJS 3.0 to 4.0 to use the latest version of that, etc... Like others here I'm expecting the next release of UNIGUI framework, but I'm still working with it since I start in May of this Year.

Do you have serious problems with the new version? Version 0.87 is being prepared. I expect to release it at end of this week. This will contain some important core fixes along with some other issues. However, it will be not be a major release like 0.86 or 0.85. Version 0.88 will be a issue-fix centric release and will contain as many as fix it can. We will start adding new features from version 0.89.0. Please don't worry. Product will not vanish from the scene. There is no reason for this to happen. There can be times when development speed is not as fast as expected. I'm trying to give priority to issues and fix the most important ones. I will open a new thread and will ask developers about issues which they need to be fixed ASAP. Especially show stoppers, if there are any. I will post a detailed article about current status of uniGUI development and road map in under Development Status thread.

Many of us are developing projects with the framework, including myself, because we know it is being implemented properly. My concern is Farshad's workload (my perception is that he is solo developer). He's providing support, correcting and testing the beta issues as well as developing new functionality we've requested. That's a lot to do. Perhaps features should be limited to those most important or sought -after prior to 1.0 (along with the issues being identified now). Also suggest that desktop mode be dropped in importance or entirely until after 1.0. My 2 cents worth. Thanks again Farshad.
stlcours Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I am so agreed with rsanford! yesterday I looked the roadmap of unigui 1.0 in detail: http://www.unigui.com/wpblog/2010/12/10/roadmap-for-unigui-1-0-0/ It is evidence that there is so many things to do for a solo developper and I worry if UNIGUI can be a excellent and perfect product in several years because we are so expecting such a good product as it is described in the roadmap. PS, the most incomprehension for me is the difference of executing sequences between VCL mode and Web mode.

Most of us already have a desktop application we want to bring to the web or at least extend parts of it to the web. For those who remember IntraWeb started as dual mode but they dropped desktop mode soon after.
