Multi-format Document Viewer for your Delphi Web Application

Hi Farshad,

In my constant search for optimum performance on complex forms and documents of different kind and sizes, I contacted Gnostice and spoke of UNIGUI power.

They have powerful components for the management of native PDF and document management in Delphi.
In my attempt to be able to display dynamic documents with Unigui, (containing dynamic data with filler form) other than simple forms with a lot of components, I got this video from Gnostice people. All using Delphi.
Any idea or comment is welcome.
:-)

Hi Farshad,

I see in demos that in their VCL desktop components I can "bind" dataset with form fields, live. When you scroll dataset in grid, fields in pdf are updated :-)
I don't known if this is possible on Web. Sure they can export-import data fields, I think... (I hope!). They have powerful SDK.
:-)

Is there a way to do this with the "normal" components (e.g. not the StarDocs "in the cloud" service) or is it possible to host the server side that renders/serves the document yourself? Not really sure I like the fact that documents have to be pushed/uploaded to Gnostice in order for this to work...

I think that you can install StarDocs on your server, not only at Gnostice....
"Normal" components: They already have Delphi desktop solution that works very well. Viewer, print, merge, load from dataset (with field link) and save back to dataset, all in delphi code.
I don't known if "normal" components can be used also for browser and web worlds...
I ask to gnostice people. Maybe the can prepare ad hoc components.

@Stefano, thank you for mentioning our products :)

It looks like linking the form fields to a dataset is a really popular need. We will take this feature up immediately and report back once it's implemented. Right now with StarDocs you can load a PDF form, fill it, save it back to the PDF, print it and "post" the form data to a URL.

@wprins, StarDocs is available as two variants. One is hosted in the cloud and another is available as an on-premises server that you can host within your network. With on-premises server your documents are secure within your network. You can download a trial of the on-premises server here. This is available as a virtual appliance so it's easy to deploy without having to worry about OS, dependencies, etc. If you don't already have a virtualization platform (ex: VMWare) you can download the free VirtualBox to host the StarDocs virtual appliance.

Hi,

Try google docs, its free.

just replace <file_url> and put it in uniURLFrame

https://docs.google.com/viewerng/viewer?url=<file_url>&chrome=false&dov=1

for example

https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=www.snee.com/xml/xslt/sample.doc&embedded=true&chrome=false&dov=1

How can I do the tests using localhost?

https://docs.google.com/viewerng/viewer?url=http://localhost:8077/files/ebook.original.pdf&embedded=true&chrome=false&dov=1
